Teaching kindergarten in a private Christian school for many years, we would always work on memorizing this wonderful psalm of praise.
Children memorize so easily when you review a little bit each day. By the end of the year it would be part of our graduation program, which they could say easily.
I can see them now as they would say….enter into his gates with thanksgiving ( hands folded together as praying hands) 🙏🙇 and into his courts with praise (lifting their hands in praise).🙌🙆
What a joy and a blessing it was to the parents and others to see and hear what the children had learned their first year in school.
We do have so much to be thankful for, so as I think of gate, I think of…..
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord , all ye lands.
Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
My daughter decided she wanted to bake tonight and made some very edible chocolate chip cookies.
Even when I’m trying to watch what I eat I cannot turn down her cookies that she enjoys making. She may sometimes think they are not edible…but I always find them plenty edible…to eat to many.
So thankful the Lord provides in every way he does.
And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
1 Timothy 6:8 KJV
When I put something into my mouth that taste so good, I just want to take a moment and savor that flavor of what I just tasted.
I can look at God’s word as I read and take a moment to meditate upon what I’ve read. Just wanting to savor His Word into my heart. To soak it in. I am sure king David savored every moment he had, when he said in Psalm 121 “I will left up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help…” or in Psalm 23 ” The Lord is my shepherd. …”. We have been given so much through his word and just being able to have his word that we might feast upon it, to savor it. What a great blessing that is!
Lord, help me to savor every monent.
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Proverbs 30:5 KJV
Every spring my husband gets busy with the garden. You can tell he really enjoys doing it, until the weather gets to hot.
We had a great crop of squash and tomatoes. The deer got to the green beans so we only got a little bit of them until they devoured them.
What a bleasing it is to see the way the Lord provides through a garden. And with plenty to share that which has been plucked.
Its a blessing to see the smiles on those you share your fresh vegetables with.
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
Ecclesiastes 3:2 KJV
Because thou hast made the Lord , which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Psalms 91:9-12 KJV
Isn’t it amazing how the Lord watches over us every day.
We take trips, go to town, or drive down the road to visit a loved one thirty minutes away and the Lord sees us home safely. What a blessing that is.
I try to make it a habit, when I turn onto our road home, that I thank the Lord for a safe trip.
He is worthy to be praised.
A couple of months ago my husband took a business trip up to Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport. Marlin had not flown for years, and I think he was rather excited about it all. He was flying out of Houston to be one of the many passengers for that day.
The weather had been bad in the East Texas area of all days. But, thank the good Lord my husband didn’t hit much rain on the way to the Houston airport. After he had arrived the weather got worse with thunderstorms all around them.
All the passengers had boarded, and they sat there, and sat there for two hours. Then they all had to exit from the airplane to the terminal and then back onto the airplane. I guess it’s a rule you can’t sit on the airplane waiting for more than two hours.
I was keeping track of my husbands flight and we were texting periodically. He takes everything so calmly. A special gift God has given him. I’m the anxious one in the family learning daily to trust God more in every situation.
So, the passengers all settled on board again and sat there and sat there for yet another two hours before taking off. The pilot ended up having to go around the storm. And then all the flights leaving behind them were cancelled.
The Lord knows how to watch over us. He provides a way to get around the storms when they come our way. We are so thankful they were not caught in the storm, even though we know the Lord would take care of them even then. God is good to us every day.
The Lord protected all of the passengers, and they made their flight safely. What a flight to remember.
The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.
Psalms 28:8 KJV
Yesterday after lunch my daughter and I was washing dishes, just enjoying the moment. She turned her music on from the new cd of Joseph Habedank, and I got the bluetooth speaker connected. There are really some great songs on his new cd and it made cleaning a breeze.
Spending time together in whatever way are priceless moments to me. Quality time spent with family and friends to look back on.
Washing dishes with my daughter makes me remember when my sister and I did the same. One would wash and one would rinse, and we would go to singing and laughing. That is one of my best memories because it was quality time spent together.
There are times when the ladies in the church get together to clean or serve. Even though we are working we are also having a good time of fellowship while we work. We always find something to laugh and carry on about.
I’m so thankful for these little moments in my life to look back on.
Thankful for my family, friends and especially for the good Lord who takes care of us, loves us, and makes all things possible.
O give thanks unto the Lord ; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.
Psalms 105:1 KJV
