I can remember my daughters very first Symphony. A family friend had given her and several others a ticket to go to this special event. She was about 16, and so excited. She had long wanted to go, and at last the opportunity arose.
She was so unsure what to wear, but wanted to look her best. So she decided on a black dress accented with white pearls. She was just glowing.
She has played the fiddle ever since she was 5, and even before played some on it. So the interest of hearing a Symphony with all the different instruments had been around for a long time.
Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.
Psalms 33:3 KJV
When she got home she was telling her dad and I all about the conductor and the different pieces of music they played. There was many different instruments, and she was amazed with it all.
She had such a great time.
Then she went on to say, when they got to the Symphony all the girl assistants or workers to her surprise were also dressed in nice black dresses.
When they were handing out programs they were unsure whether to give her one or not. Politely, she smiled and took one. She won’t be wearing her black dress again, but did really look beautiful.
What a blessing it is when the Lord puts it on someones heart to give in a special way. That was special to Charlotte. It will be a time in her life she will always remember.
I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Acts 20:35 KJV
Teaching kindergarten in a private Christian school for many years, we would always work on memorizing this wonderful psalm of praise.
Children memorize so easily when you review a little bit each day. By the end of the year it would be part of our graduation program, which they could say easily.
I can see them now as they would say….enter into his gates with thanksgiving ( hands folded together as praying hands) 🙏🙇 and into his courts with praise (lifting their hands in praise).🙌🙆
What a joy and a blessing it was to the parents and others to see and hear what the children had learned their first year in school.
We do have so much to be thankful for, so as I think of gate, I think of…..
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord , all ye lands.
Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
Because thou hast made the Lord , which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Psalms 91:9-12 KJV
Isn’t it amazing how the Lord watches over us every day.
We take trips, go to town, or drive down the road to visit a loved one thirty minutes away and the Lord sees us home safely. What a blessing that is.
I try to make it a habit, when I turn onto our road home, that I thank the Lord for a safe trip.
He is worthy to be praised.
Some days it’s really hard not to meddle, especially as a mom. I really have to pray for the good Lord to help me not to say anything when I (as in this flesh) really want to. I just go before the Lord in prayer for my children that he might speak to their hearts and give them wisdom to make the right decisions in their daily lives.
I am so very blessed with a wonderful family, and do my best not to meddle even though I’m sure I fail at times, but am working on it.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28 KJV
